We just returned from a two week vacation to California. Week one we spent hanging out in the sun in Carlsbad in a condo on the beach. We made some day trips to the aquarium, zoo, seaport village, the tide pools and sea lions and an insta care office for some ear infections. All in all we had a great time despite the illness.
Here is the large sandcastle we built as a family. Finley really enjoyed trying to knock down the walls. I think he was just testing it to make sure it was built up to better withstand the waves. Kevin did most the sculpting and the boys kept the buckets filled. Finely really loved the waves and ocean and kept trying to make a run for the water whenever he could. Griffin got knocked over by a wave as he ran away from it and never would go back in the water. He just threw rocks into the ocean from a safe distance. Braeden enjoyed swimming and even managed to get a good mouth full of sea water.
Flying kites with the cousins at seaport village was a nice relaxing way to spend an afternoon. We also took a ride on the carousel.
At the tidepools we found quite a few live animals this year. We found two different starfish and lots of little fishes. Finely enjoyed playing in the water left in the pools. Griffin hopped from rock to rock and amazingly didn't cut himself on the mussels or ragged edges and Braeden loved getting as far out into the waves as he could while staying on the rocks.
